چکیده

The automotive industry is constantly looking for innovative techniques to produce lighter, more efficient, and less polluting vehicles comply with the increasingly restrictive environmental regulations. One of latest technologies, which still developing, based on fabrication body-in-white car parts through stamping aluminum tailor welded blanks. Tailor blanks (TWBs) are generally a combination two/three metal sheets different thicknesses and/or mechanical strengths, commonly laser butt-welded. Even though TWBs have main advantage producing lightweight parts, their use limited by lower formability than parent materials fact that welding remains process easily subjected weld defects (i.e., internal porosity) and, hence, requires strict control parameters. This study has investigated effects parameters (laser power, speed, focus position) properties made 6xxx series. research results show conditions highly influence weldability such alloys. Heat input over 70 J/mm responsible excessive porosity molten pool (and consequent root concavity), lowest strength joints. Differently, low amounts imperfections behaviors TWB Overall, narrow window required ensure joints proper or no porosity.

Investigation on Formability of Tailor-Welded Blanks in Incremental Forming

Steel laser tailor-welded blanks (TWBs) are produced by end-to-end joining of base sheets using different welding methods. In this article, the formability of laser TWBs of St12 and St14 with thicknesses of 1 mm and 1.5 in single point incremental forming process were experimentally and numerically investigated. First, the forming limit wall angle was experimentally determined for each of the b...

Influence of gas tungsten arc welding parameters on the formability of aluminum tailor welded blanks

Welding method and its parameters has an important effect on the formability and mechanical properties of tailor welded blanks(TWBs). In this study gas tungsten arc welding(GTAW) is used to joint aluminum TWBs. Aluminum TWBs consist of 6061 aluminum sheets with different thickness of 1mm and 2mm. Main parameters of GTAW consist of welding current, pressure of shielding gas, welding speed and di...

Finite element analysis of tailor-welded blanks

A typical tailor-welded blank (TWB) is composed of several base metals, which might have di!erent mechanical properties as well as thickness. Moreover, a TWB contains a heat-a!ected zone (HAZ) which has quite di!erent mechanical properties from base materials. The forming behaviors of TWBs have been widely studied since they were "rst developed as a way of using collectible o!al. They are often...

Formability Study of Steel Tailor laser Welded Blanks (TWB) in Stretch Forming

The use of TWB has been developed in automotive industries because of it’s advantages such as reduction in weight, cost and fuel economy of vehicles. The main objective of the peresent work is to study the effects of weld zone, diffrence in surface coating and thickness ratio on the formability of TWB composed of AISI 304, SPCC and IF steel sheets. It was found that the narrow weld zone has lit...
